The thing about a lot of the games you mentioned...they were either F2p or mobile or discounted.

Dota2 has never charged for new characters. Don’t say “every” when you only mean the limited number you know about.

And if those new characters just happened to start their time in the game “unbalanced” and “over-powered”, well, that’s just the game’s development cycle, and certainly not incentivizing the paid battle pass via a backdoor pay to win mechanic.

All the cars drive the same and are just aesthetic really though. These heroes could be the new meta and they’re still locked behind paywalls or extreme time gates

I had no played the original but I knew of its middling reputation. It definitely kept me from playing it until I realised it had nothing to do with it. If you had people like me plus the disappointed fans, it might not be a huge group but for a game that already had a limited reach to begin with, it probably hurt it…

For some reason people like to pretend like BotW innovated the open world genre. Pretty much all it has to it’s name that isn’t found else where is that time stop /momentum preservation ability and incredibly tedious climbing mechanics. Everything else is just bog standard open world shit that’s been done a dozen…
