We have a Vitamix, and this method of cleaning a blender is exactly what is described in the instructions for cleaning the Vitamix. I'd bet it keeps the blades sharp longer as well as being much faster than running it through the dishwasher.

@mbarahonap: Your math is incorrect. 4'x8'x6" is 16 cubic feet. 16 cubic feet is 0.453 cubic meters. At 2300 kgs/cubic meter, you'd be well over 1000 kgs, or over 2200 pounds. Compost weighs about a third of that. Add a little water and the weight of the building materials, and it's around 1000 pounds.

Early this year, I ordered (for $3) plans for a similar setup from the Chicago Botanic Garden. The plans were really nicely laid out and very clearly illustrated. I highly recommend them. One big difference is that they suggest adding a hatch at the bottom of the structure to allow you to remove the soil at the end

@comodidit: Yep, all about the support for multiple browsers. I use both Chrome and Firefox regularly, so Xmarks makes the most sense for me.

I don't feel guilty about taking my vacation time in the least. That's part of my compensation—and I certainly don't feel guilty about cashing my paycheck or utilizing insurance.

Excel in particular is miles ahead of its competition—I have used OpenOffice, and it's really not in the same league. Then again, I certainly utilize more Excel functionality than the average user.

If I buy a new PC with Office 2007 installed on it, do I still qualify for this?

If you are interested in genealogical/family history work, the LDS Church (Mormon Church) has some great resources. There is a very large family history library in Salt Lake City, containing "two million rolls of microfilmed records" (per the website). There are also smaller family history centers at many of the

@Xanthippe: You can still use the non-beta site if you want. The beta will eventually become the main site, but for now, they are both running.

I am a big Costco fan. I've purchased all kinds of stuff there, from food to tennis balls to jewelry. That said, it's not the right place to buy everything.

@Owosso: I like many different kinds of music. Many college radio stations play a wider variety of music than other, more focused, stations. I do like some pop and hip-hop, but also everything from classical to metal. IMHO there is good music, like good food, to be found in all kinds of places if you're willing to

Napster...well, if we went back to the year 2000.

VOTE: Radio. Local radio, including college radio stations, is hard to beat.

@who.else: So there is...I'll try to be better about that!
