In terms of style, I don’t see much similarity between Kane and Teuvo.

Clarkson’s might be the most outrageous in terms of money versus production/value, but the point is how much Girardi has cost the Rangers in terms of other players.

No, it’s just that much of McDonald’s food is not actually toxic or so unhealthful compared with what passes as nutritious food.

They could have put a $100 artisinal meal through and it would have looked the same.

And his hockey nickname is ... Phil.

Well, sure the Hawks should ask him. I should ask my boss for a raise. But that’s a wish, not a strategy. (I questioned “risk” because a risk of something happening implies a downside to that something. Losing Hossa in the draft is not a downside event.) Hossa has no reason to waive his clause.

Yeah, but look at what they parlayed Staal into. Played the Rangers for fools.

Unlike the NBA, the teams just edged out of the NHL playoffs are generally pretty decent. The NBA teams in the last spots are terrible.

If you want to separate athletes and non-athletes, put them on a golf course.

Not for nothing that euchre rhymes with Dubuquer.

Trading Fleury probably makes the most business sense, but he’s kind of a special case in terms of the affection for him, and he is close to Sid, so it’s possible they don’t trade him even they’d like to otherwise.

Doesn’t Fleury have to be protected? (No move clause). Otherwise I don’t think anyone would be too concerned. They love Fleury but realize they’d rather have Murray after this year.

Well, so “no trade” has an imprecise meaning. I think everyone here was assuming we’re talking about players who couldn’t be traded period without their permission.

I would not put Teuvo in the same surefire place as Saad. Teuvo has so far been largely potential, which is why they didn’t get the return that they got for Saad.

What they did with Daley showed that while Q is a great coach he has a huge blind spot with some players.

I am not getting your point. I don’t see a way around the Hawks being stuck with Hossa’s contract, which is what is being discussed here.

I am educated on this. They lose Bickell’s $4 million hit for one year, and it is really $3 million and change because they could bury some of the hit in the minors. Whether that frees enough to sign Shaw and the other players they want for the season is by no means made certain by this deal.

And their first season, if not their first three, is going to be like expansion in the ‘70s where they lose about every game. Minor league teams are made of players who either will never make the NHL or aren’t ready for it.

You act like asking him is the same as having it done. Why on earth would he waive it? And exposing Hammer doesn’t open him to a “chance” of being lost; he would certainly be claimed. He will be protected.

Do you think they really would consider Hossa being picked after this coming season a “risk”? I’d call it a wish. The guy’s hands are slowing down.
