The problem with this analogy is that Villarreal, Fiorentina and Torino are obviously going to fall apart because they lack the quality of Juve and Barca/RM.
It makes complete and total sense. The history of the world is largely one of older men being threatened by more talented younger men and doing insane things to compensate for that perception of threat.
Agreed. More broadly, you cannot have a marketplace when no-one knows the cost of anything. Actual privatized, marketplace health care may be a good idea (I am not a policy expert) but what we have now is effectively a government-sanctioned private pricing cartel.
I agree that he’s a total asshat and even more despicable because he seems to be enjoying playing the wrestling heel villain. Say what you will about Pfizer, Novartis and Roche, they do at least develop drugs.
Devils advocate: how is he the epitome of big pharma given that he does no research and development or science of any kind? He’s almost definitionally a financier.
It depends how you define results. If you have high-quality insurance, they will spend more money per person on higher quality treatments than anyone else in the world is likely to receive. Unfortunately this often means spending enormous sums of money on end of life treatments that likely buy a person a month or two…
WE’RE GOING TO WIN THE LEAGUE!
WERE GOING TO WIN THE LEAGUE
It would be interesting to see what that looks like at a similar income cohort. The means to avoid driving drunk + things to lose component is what makes it shocking that it’s even close to the average male stat.
It’s inexcusable that a group of public figures making millions of dollars should be double the US average when it comes to DUI. Totally insane. Add in the fact that as 250 lbs plus, muscular guys they metabolize alcohol faster than the average person and it’s even crazier.
Hear hear. The people who have been ridiculing Tomsula as incompetent before he even coached a game are the same sort of people who say “The National Football League” instead of “the NFL.”
I think it’s reasonable to ask whether Tomsula has been promoted past his level of competence. The Vikings aren’t world-beaters but they were a 7-9 team last year with a lot of reasons to believe they’d be better this year. Knocking them out 20-3 is meaningful.
Fellow West Ham supporter: define go wrong? This team is too good to be relegated and we’ve bested the Arse and Liverpool already.
Football fans will idiotically get behind any commentator who suggests players “man up” through injury or concussion or 100 degree temperatures... but a choreographed shimmy to the side like the Four Tops? CHEATERS!
You can use “calibre” and “favour” (if you please) or you can be a grown man who goes by “Billy,” you cannot do both.
I remain optimistic the USMNT can catch up quickly. As interest rises, and investment continues to grow, there’s a lot that can be achieved. Just look at how quickly the world caught up to the U.S. in men’s basketball.
The answer is Title IX. The USWNT has a thirty year head start over most nations when it comes to investment in women’s sports, training, facilities, coaching and pro-women sports culture. You’ll notice that other mainstays in the women’s game such as Sweden and Australia aren’t so hot in the men’s game either, but…
Three World Cups in 25 years, the most of all countries counts as dominant. The reason is a thirty year head start over most countries for women’s sports thanks to Title IX. It’s a credit to US gender equality in sports.
