Rape is an emotionally charged subject, which is why Erin and several readers are getting hung up on it. Dawkins isn't trying to claim stranger rape is worse than date rape; he just used that as an illustration for his argument that saying X is worse than Y isn't an endorsement of X. Now, is it stupid to use rape as

Agreed. That goal was phenomenal.

No. 11: Germany never played Spain in this World Cup.

If you're confused by what I wrote, the feeling's mutual. I'm having trouble understanding your comment.

I didn't say this article shouldn't have been written, I said the LGBTQA community cannot claim to support tolerance while articles like these are written.

No, it's not urgently important to me what they call themselves, especially when they're likely to add a few more letters before the year's out.

I'm not defending what some people DO because of their feelings of discomfort, I'm defending their right to feel uncomfortable in the first place. Rather than change people's attitudes, the LGBTQ community seeks to change society around those people, as if they don't equally belong. And btw, LGBTQ people asking for

Because it doesn't seem to be just LGBT anymore. (My school I think has LGBTQA, whatever that means.) Rather than trying to keep up, I'm just going to shorten it. You know who I'm referring to anyway.

Bigots aren't sensitive to others by definition, and I don't defend those who actively discriminate or denigrate. But at the same time, I don't think being uncomfortable with mixing gender identities alone qualifies someone as a bigot. You can laugh and mock and misrepresent my views to your heart's content, but

All I mean by showing sensitivity is that it does not include writing articles such as these.

I don't think anyone's being asked to deny reality, but rather show sensitivity to those whose reality differs from your own.

Okay, good for you. I didn't mention the president or Congress. I'm talking about tolerance, sensitivity, and the author's lack thereof.

No, but writing articles such as these is. I also have a hard time mustering sympathy, in my case for the author here or anyone who can't help but resort to mockery or swearing to get their point across. It's such a double-standard. LGB... supporters don't have a leg to stand on in demanding tolerance while not

I didn't say a gender neutral bathroom is hurting anybody. What I did say is that I don't think articles like these shoving people's discomforts back in their faces is doing tolerance any service, or is at all productive. Note the scathing sarcasm and vitriol of this article and the words the author chose.

Dumb joke.

Alright, look. Some people are not comfortable with the idea of people identifying themselves as neither exclusively male or female. I don't think it serves the spirit of tolerance by shoving this discomfort back in their faces. The message from the LGB-whatever community seems to be, "Be tolerant of us or else!"

The reactions look totally staged.

Don't care for it.

A guy's girlfriend messages him through Facebook from beyond the grave. Yeah, it's maybe a hoax.

As straight-forward as Ketherx's post was, you still found a way to impose your bias on it. Congrats.
