You know what looks better than this? an SW20 mr2
You know what looks better than this? an SW20 mr2
Totally agreed. I turn my head more when I see an SW20 than I do when I see an R8, partially to check if it’s the unobtainably-rare hardtop turbo model. The dentist down the street from me drives an R8, those don’t really excite me the same way.
It doesn’t even make sense, MR2s are expensive nowadays! I got mine on BaT 5 or 6 years ago for $7k, but nowadays they’re going for double that at least. Nothing about this makes sense. Y0u can get an R8 for low $60k...why would anyone pay over a third of that for this abomination?
It’s sacrilege. I had a ‘91 and a ‘92 Turbo. This pains me.
I have a 93 MR2 Turbo and this offends me deeply. Why would you do this to a perfectly good MR2??
Besides the tablet sticking out, I really like the rest of it...
If Tesla wants to expand it's market share, they're going to have to start caring about build quality.
It’s about a... wait for it... car.
Absolutely! Happy to provide one for comparison!
Great. Let’s criticize their panel gaps next!
Doug Demuro was critical of this in his Plaid review as well, and he’s a known fan of Tesla in general and had high remarks of the car otherwise (plus it was brand new so that lady’s criticism doesn’t apply). The people who buy Teslas seem to not really care about this, and the people who do care are likely not going…
For fullest disclosure VW gave everyone a choice of color to choose from, which is why some other reviews will show a gray or blue one.
The unit in my tester never required reboots, but did require multiple tries to get a phone to pair. You never quite get past the lag, it’s like playing Call of Duty when you have awful ping.
Sorry but I can’t really agree here. Volkswagon used to be quirky, weird, utilitarian, and affordable. Now its just another producer of lumps with wheels like everyone else.
I have yet to read a review of this (or any of the VW E vehicles) that doesn’t mention the screen controlling everything being a complete pain to use. This is the first review I have read where the reviewer doesn’t note having to turn it off and back on again to get it to work.
For a first driver, I’d argue it is in fact too slow. A 20 second 0-60 time in a tin can does not leave a lot of room for error if you pull out in front of someone. On the roads these days, this is not something I would give a young driver who is not used to calculating those types of moves.
I think I’d want a kid to drive something a bit more robust. Not talking putting them in a full sized pickup, but at least something where a fender bender wouldn’t be a potential ambulance event.
Price wise, sure. But personally, I'd like a couple of air bags in my kids' first car. Maybe some ABS too. IDK
I was thinking that while reading. Most cars until recently had the ability to move a lever to neutral and also the little barely-hidden cover near the shifter to pop-off so you could (i think) do it without a key (and keep the steering wheel from locking maybe?). But with push buttons and rotary knobs become more…
Apparently the author hasnt been in a car newer than like 2010.
