Hi, former Smart Fortwo owner here. I enjoyed the driving experience! The maintenance issues and poor reliability, not so much. 

+1. Former Smart Fortwo owner here (10 months). The transmission was always fine. Shifts were firm and deliberate but never obtrusive. I’d much rather have the automated gearbox from the Smart than the conventional automatic (slushy, indecisive, etc) in my Honda.

You need to brush up on your history.
