I was thinking about this the other day, and the answer came to me: Corporate logos. They're *everywhere* — on buildings, on documents, on our clothing and toys. Some of them make no sense out of context. The most obvious explanation is that they're religious symbols for a dizzyingly-wide pantheon of gods.

Even within the context of someone who regularly investigates multi-million cubic meter behemoths with improbably long runout distances, lahars and pyroclastic flows scare me. They are just so big, so fast, and so mobile

This is the book I'm most looking forward to reading. (Cannot think about Doors of Stone, must not give in to the Rothfuss) But man, that gender thing was hard to get my head around. By the end of the book I was fully on board. The gender language helped the characters feel foreign, and forced me to stop caring about
