I detested this book until I slogged through to the last two pages. Then it was like I'd been in a dark room and someone hit the lights. It was a really remarkable experience but I haven't read it since then, even though the book is genius.

My favorite reaction to invisible disabilities from other people is when they - without any information beyond hearing the diagnosis - will immediately ask, "Well, have you tried...[insert ANY - though usually obvious or stupid - suggestions here]."

I think this is one book where the last, say, quarter really pays off.

Robinson has this amazing ability to write novels with incredibly interesting worlds where every character in it deserves a vicious punch in the face.

I was young and had just finished the Middle Earth trilogy and and wanted to spend more time in Tolkien's universe, but The Silmarillion proved completely impenetrable to me.

I like a lot of the Buzz Rickson stuff, but every time I see the jacket from the book I feel disappointed. It just isn't as cool as I pictured in my head.
