Exactly my thought, who would want a boring beigemobile like dash in a 60's car ?
I get the drivetrain swap and suspension improvements, but this is a bad idea.

When you build those abominations :

I was 13 when the first F&F came out...thought it was mildly entertaining but very cheesy, and most cars looked stupid. Hard to take any of it seriously. Then the other ones came out...huh. I probably don’t care enough for the import, tuner, street racing scene.

Are there actual car fans that like the F&F films ?

The Super Etendard is an upgraded Etendard IV : better engine, different radar so different avionics, but it’s still essentially the same aircraft.
What I meant by active service is aircraft actually participating in NATO operations.

Salut l’ami !

If you take the Etendard IV from 1962 into account, it was one of the oldest jet combat aircraft in active service in NATO countries. I think the F-4 and MiG-21 are the oldest.

France...
There were annual taxes for cars for a long time here, and the more cubes a car had, the higher they were. Add to that a tax reduction on diesel engines and gazole fuel, it was tempting to do the conversion. They generally had japanese truck engines or the old Peugeot Indenor diesel engine.

As someone who lives in a country crowded with boring diesel econoboxes, it hurts me a little inside...
I’ve seen many Mustangs and Firebird converted to 4 cylinder diesel smokers for tax reduction.
Put any engine you want in a muscle car, as long as it’s not diesel.

In 1977, you could have an engine from each GM division in a Firebird, except Cadillac.

I would buy a Ferrari 512BB, black with red interior, a Plymouth Hemi Cuda, and a 1972 Firebird, a transmission and good rear disc brakes for my 84 Trans Am.

Then I would create my own car brand.

Magneto of course.

Having fun ? That’s a pretty good “usability” for me.

In the US, 1975 defintely : big bumpers, huge anemic engines, catalytic converters, most muscle cars were gone, and the trend in car design was all show no go

1974 was the last good year for the 2nd Gen Firebird, the SD-455 was still a thing and the catalytic converter wasn’t there yet. I’d say the worst years were 75 and 76 for that model, same for the Camaro. The 455 (7.4L) made a mere 200hp...sure it was still torquey but come on, that’s 50 less than the 455 of the

There are two styles of SBC valve covers, 1955-86 and 87-up centerbolt (like the one pictured).

Any pre war luxury french car is generally quite good :

It’s thick urethane with an internal steel structure.

Or a couple years later, you could have that V6 WITH the WS6 :
