I get that, as a car person, it is special; it’s just that (to use your example), if this car drove past me on the street, I’d think “nice Subaru”. I wouldn’t think “six figure car”.

I’m going with Legit - the owner is trying to figure out why there’s no interest on alfabb:

“I tried to sell it, honey, but people kept thinking it was a scam.”

And “TURBO!” upholstery! Basically “TURBO!” every visible surface.

That’s a pretty broad question. The GNX is a sexy beast but I don’t think it was common enough to be definitively ‘80s. It’s like Stranger Things; a rosy memory of an ‘80s that never quite happened, like someone ate the ‘80s and burped in your face. Like a DeLorean. Also, it took me a long time to divorce the GNX from

The Countach for the Win! Gotta be Coke white, though!

{EDIT: Mixed up my Magnum PIs with my Miami Vices and can’t be trusted with Ferrari}

I had a new ‘89 Integra LS. I loved that car. It handled well, had an engine that spun up like a sewing machine, and was completely reliable. It was a class above all the other entry-level sporty cars.

I think there’s two ways to answer - the cars that come to mind when we think back of the 80s through the lens of nostalgia.

While 911 Turbos, Testarossas, and Grand National GNXs are representative of the ‘80s, it’s not like they were everywhere and everyone had one. For that I nominate the 3rd gen Accord. The 1980s were when Japanese OEMs solidified their dominance in bread and butter cars, and here’s one with pop-up lights which were

Does the S4 version of the V8 have the beefier timing chain guides or did you need the RS4 for that?

The Testarossa is certainly the car that defines the 80's boom period from 84-87. Not so sure about the earely 80's when the world was in recession and cars were strangled by emission requirements.

The Mustang 5.0 5-speed was the car to beat back then. Sure, the GN and GNX existed and were some serious ass-kickers in the quarter mile. I’d even go as far as saying they were unbeatable. However, the ultimate “every man” car that could kill it at both the drag track and local road course events was a 5-speed

160k is a lotta miles, but damn that’s a good lookin’ car.

Crazytalk. This thing is freaking awesome. It’s (A), not beige, (B) a BRAT, (C) a manual, and (D) not in any way shape or form boring. I’m so sick of boring cars, I’d take this thing in a heartbeat.

I want a compact truck so I can use it like a tool, not look like a tool.

Clearly his problem is more money than taste. We really shouldn’t enable him.

You got that right!  Long time, no see, old friend.

Doug’s GT sounds great, but the GT40 sounds outrageous, the way a car should.
