Never thought I’d see a pro-gun take on Deadspin.
You can fish off the back while I run 125. That’s trolling speed, right?
A $300k boat shouldn’t be towed though, you dry dock it in the winter. Where the fuck are you towing a $300k boat?
fuck this review. This truck is for people who need a truck, need to tow, plow, or whatever. This truck is for those people who want luxury but need capability
Not even close to true. Sales are tanking and manufacturers are laying off employees.
On a classic Jeep Cherokee with the bulletproof 4.0 inline six, miles almost don’t matter. It’s a bit like the bean dip I’ve had in the back of my fridge since... *shrugs*...
“The ______ is a car for secretaries.” That continues to be the laziest insult in the car world. So was the Nissan 240SX. Or the Celica. Or the Eclipse. In the case of the Celica and the Eclipse, you needed to pay more for the correct engine. In the case of the 240SX, you needed to move to Japan for the correct engine.
“Trends suck” says someone who doesn’t see the opportunity of kitted-out rigs with no resale value in ten years. I’m all for yuppies paying the premium to the rest of us can bank on the depreciation. Even better if it gets no hard offroad abuse!
I totally agree. The rooftop tents look cool, and there’s something to be said about not having to lay down a tarp and deal with wet ground... but I got a monster tent last year that theoretically sleeps 11, which fits a queen air mattress, the kid’s cot, dog’s bed, and plenty of elbow room for bags and other gear.…
The issue I have with it, at least if you live east of the mississippi, is that there are precious few spots where “overlanding” can actually be done. As in, we don’t have vast areas of federal land that can be driven on. We’ve got state and national parks. Some states, like Wisconsin, don’t really even have gravel…
Why is anyone buying anything when you can rent. Seriously, That’s a lot of money for something most people will do like maybe 5 times a year? Maybe 10? Get a normal 4x4 truck, rent a truck camper, save your money for more trips or blow it on some more mods for your offroader or maybe spend it on your kids education.…
God forbid people enjoy their shit however they like to, maybe someday they’ll live up to your high and mighty standards.
Or buy an RV and convert it to a 4x4 RV.
Buy a RV and trailer and haul your rig side by side to ACTUAL TRAILS. That’s kind of where I am at this point. Love my JK, but apparently it’s forbidden to sleep on the ground in a tent these days.
Hot take. Over-landing is a stupid trend for yuppies that needs to die. It’s driving up the price of perfectly decent off-road rigs and resulting in hilariously ill conceived mods to non off-road rigs. All so people who don’t spend much time in the outdoors anyways can post Instagram stories from trails the average…
