You're right. I hate it when people cut in front of me in room I am 'saving' for visibility or braking, but definitely worth it to try to wait it out for visibility every time.

This. A million times this. I don't *want* to pass on the right, I am forced to do so.
Damn. $800 is a good way to a second hand shifter cart though..
The Camaro on the list is just plain inaccurate. The lead engineer at certain market-dominating shock production company said, quote-unquote "The new body Camaro is the worst handling car we have ever worked with".
That's AFTER they have been impounded.
Let GM design parts vs. companies who work on those parts exclusively? #thanks #butnothanks
So you're saying we should make our streets too narrow to accommodate some common vehicles in the name of safety? Sounds logical.
>Also, you're just baiting by bringing up demographics. That's beside the point and you can't claim that a $50,000 dually is "blue collar." That's expensive for most, regardless of what…
Nonsense, there's no way generalizations or stereotypes could be totally incorrect. This is evidenced by your original post.
How does it feel driving a Prius every day?
Yes, me driving something that is totally DOT compliant and legal is asinine. Fuck me for being so blue collar. The point here is, people shouldn't have to be inhibited from purchasing and using otherwise legal vehicles because some municipalities have decided to narrow their streets. Agree or disagree?
Irrelevant to the topic at hand, but thanks for playing.
I expect there to be a sidewalk widening-for-vehicles campaign to accompany this street narrowing-for-peds one.
Clearly you've never driven a large vehicle and/or have no idea what you're talking about, 8.5 without mirrors is 10 feet with them. So basically this vehicle is on the lines at all times. Now throw in the general population of morons and...
Amen. Most parking lots can't even accommodate my super duty; let's not F up the roads too.
If they're not going to stop texting and eating while driving because of the perceived danger, I don't think the 'perceived danger' of narrowing their lanes will do anything.
You are placing way too much faith in people.
I daily drive a dually. Dealing with wander-lane morons is a constant headache, because if they're on the line they're inches from my vehicle. You are right, that buffer zone is ESSENTIAL from preventing their ultimate death-by-9000lb-truck.
In a nut, Speck contends – and backs up, mostly – that wider lanes cause people to travel faster. When they travel faster, they do more damage when hitting a pedestrian or cyclist. By reducing the lane width in urban areas from 12 to 10 feet, drivers will slow down because of the perceived lack of space.
This. Seriously. Red left turn arrows are TOTALLY USELESS. Seriously, what is the point of a red left arrow, somebody tell me. I blow them EVERY TIME.
Nice to give Europe the finger for once instead of the other way around.
