There are absolutely men who do this. My sense is that they’re doing it in less public ways. I knew of two white men in graduate school who likely misrepresented their ethnicity to get into Ph.D. programs or to get play in a competitive job market. In one case, it really was no question as he was pretty open about it.

It seems to me that there are way more white women who major in African American Studies and show other interest in black people.

It’s white guilt, though unlike conservative people who try and deny or flat out get defensive, these people are simply hiding from it by becoming other people. It’s strange and very sad. Just own up to who you are and be a better person.

I think a lot of white people (I’m white) see curly hair and a “wide” nose and think “Must be mixed race!”.  I don’t know what’s worse-- that people assume it casually, or that others abuse that ignorance to their own “advantage”?

It could be just me, but it seems like being a white woman isn’t that hard to the point where they are allowed to transracialize (?) themselves and grift hardworking people.

Then it isn’t reality. And they put the owners of the house In Jeopardy.

I think it’s hysterical that most of us admittedly don’t even watch their show but somehow we all know there’s a chubby brother who has a sock line somewhere.

let’s make it easy: we became tired of the fucking family. i have never seen an episode, and for some reason, i was asleep, and woke up to the whistling of the opening, just to change the channel, and go back to sleep.

No, her dress has color blocking panels that are designed to create an illusion, and she is working every angle for all it is worth, trying to disappear when she turns sideways.

I think it’s because I’ve never watched the show yet I know everything about them. They’ve become a huge cultural juggernaut and I’m an unwilling audience. 30 Rock has a great bit on this.

Maybe Ryan Seacrest realizes they’re not the cash machine they once were. It was inevitable, should have happened years ago. They were entertaining for a few seasons but it got old quickly.

I envy you, I have always hated them but in my teens I was into the competition ones à la American Idol and The Amazing Race, but then I realized those are also super manipulative, so I just stopped watching by 2009. I wish I could say I've never watched one.

I feel more like he’s spiraling out of control and needs a little time off from the spotlight.
I’m trying to be kind, but as someone with mental health issues similar to his, it is alarming to see this behavior unchecked.

This is the first Kardashian related post that I clicked in years, and I just feel it’s the end of an era in a way, I’m not quite able to articulate how impressed I am at the cultural footprint they left, yet I am also unimpressed at how they don't quite have a discernible talent, that's how things are sometimes. I love your username.

Other gossip blogs are reporting that the contract was up and that PMK asked for too much money... and their ratings are on the decline. E! walked away.

Remember how funny we thought it was when the Simpsons depicted President Trump, former host of reality show The Apprentice, because of the extreme improbability? To quote Mayor Quimby, this stupid country.

I am happy to say that I have never watched a reality TV show, not even that first Survivor. I attribute their popularity to aliens.

A twofer - an article where I find out both that the show was still on, and that it is ending. Just dense with information.

Please! MAKE IT STOP!
Do not give these grifters and their family any more attention.
