Why are you asking me questions as though I was there? I am assuming that he did it because a lot of young college students lack any fucking common sense and he thought it’d be cool to bring home something from North Korea without realizing that you do not fuck with NK like that.

Yeah, I’m a little disheartened by some of the replies I’ve seen to this story, both here and elsewhere. It’s entirely possible he’s being framed, and even if he did do what they’re accusing him of, no one was hurt and ultimately this is not something that he should potentially lose his life for (North Korean prison

I was just thinking about this, this morning (haha, always good to wake up thinking about rape culture). It’s such a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Yep. The majority of the retractions aren’t “I was raped, jk just said that for fun!”... they might be more like, “I was raped, now I’m ostracized in this small town, my parents think I’m sullied and dirty, and I’m getting harassed by people who think it’s impossible that the rapist could do such a thing.”

“ Things just went too far and someone got scared”

Teaching her anything about the dangers of the internet was never the intent.

If I were this girl’s mother I would be seriously tempted to give up years of my life in prison just to brutally murder this man.

Anyone who brags or “casually” brings up the fact they havent had a tv for X years, is automatically branded a douche in my mind.

I am STILL angry about the American family with the huge budget who moved to Morocco. They looked at all these amazing palatial Moroccan-style homes with the inner courtyard and vintage tiles and fountains and shit. In the end, they bought a plot of land and built a mother-fucking McMansion. Like...if it was in Texas,

(1) I have not had a TV in my house since 2005 and (2) watch maybe 90 minutes of TV tops per week

Addiction turns you into the monster you were always secretly afraid you were. It’s a horrible disease, but one that methodically and ruthlessly strips away your ability to have anything to give to the people who love and rely on you. Weiland’s treatment of his children is inexcusable. No, he didn’t do it “on

No probably about it. A seriously talented guy.

I used to be a lot more unforgiving of addiction -“if they cared enough, they’d just stop.” But after a year of being on painkillers, I think I get it more. Learning how to be sober again is really hard. I think that’s what I didn’t understand before. It’s not just about stopping the habit, it’s about trying to start

Between knowing too many people to be failed by fathers (and the emotional toll that can continue to take on them throughout their lives) and thinking of the brother I lost earlier this year to heroin addiction, this was a gutpunch of a read this morning. A good gutpunch, but a gutpunch nonetheless. I’m really glad

I like his little “this is a good baby” ... ::smooch:: at the end. Like kissing the top of its little head was just an involuntary reaction to seeing a baby head. This guy really likes kids!

Not to play the tiniest violin and be an ass but I think it is worse if you are a woman, people think they own you and have the right to tell you what is wrong with you. Then you get tabloids calling you fat when you have gained 2 lbs because you have not been to the gym obsessively for 5 hours each day.

Anything is worth what it’s purchaser will pay for it. These guys have one person who will ever want their land, they were offered a fair price for their land (it’s not worth billions buddy just because you say so you lose), they refused because they though “lets see just how far we can take ol’ unlce sam”, and now

When you have a single buyer for a given thing, the buyer sets the price. Stating that the property is worth billions just makes you look like a fool.

That’s what they keep saying, but what pray tell *is* the value of the land? They don’t have a mill onsite, and would have to export all of the ore offsite for processing. Even then, there isn’t even any hint of how much more of the deposits still remain underground.

I agree. I think the investigators probably dug deeper. Made sure the “i”s were dotted and the “t”s crossed. They knew they’d be accused of showing leniency and I think the rank and file really resent the implication of favoritism. There was even talk of them researching the side effects of hormone therapy.
