Wally World replaced living wage jobs and local businesses with part time minimum wage jobs with all profits going to Wally’s kids who own the company. The best thing that could happen to that industry if for the current players to fold and for new ones to start up under some actual regulation. If the demand is strong enough (and it seems like it is), some new companies will be more than happy to play by fairer rules to cash in.

If the cruise line industry were to shut down, people would still be going on vacation and spending their money.... so the net impact on the U.S. economy might be neutral. This is kind of like saying Walmart adds jobs when they come to a small town.... not really at all since the locals were already buying their…

The airlines are not remotely as bad as the cruise ships. It's not even comparable really especially when you take pollution and all the shady maritime law shit into account. Fuck the cruise industry.

Cruise line companies aren’t entitled to govt. aid money. Its not a vital industry. Not necessary for the orderly functioning of our country. Its a discretionary service. People will survive without a cruise! The country and economy will function just fine.

Why don’t these cruise lines go to the Panamanian, Cayman, or Liberian government for low/no interest loans e.g. a bailout? I mean what do they pay taxes for? Amirite?

Finally some good news—the completely frivolous cruise industry does not get squat—cool.

Didn’t read a thing, no offense, just wanted to point out that if this destroys the cruise ship industry this will be, unintentionally, the best thing congress has done for the environment since the creation of the EPA.

If they want to be bailed out by American taxpayers, then they should REGISTER THEIR SHIPS IN AMERICA!

The taxes are only one part of it, if they flagged in the US their employees would fall under US law and the ship would have to meet higher safety and environmental standards too
