Yes, but can you comment on the list there?

Yeah, this is sad, I think some readers have no life context... so Steve Jobs ends up being more than he really is.

I would argue Jesus Christ has done more to change the world's mind than Steve Jobs. Brilliant marketer and focused on his vision. Leader? Maybe...

Same minimalist genre, but thanks for the correction on the actual composer.

My comment was to imply the more reliable vehicle in certain situations. For me, Verizon iPhone regardless of total bandwidth is better because you can actually have reliable access in more places than AT&T ever will. My friend's truck broke down in a remote part of California, and Verizon was the only phone to be

iCloud just killed the MacBook. You don't need a computer to backup your data any more. Sure, some people will need a MacBook for desktop specific uses... but if someone just needs the stuff a smartphone can provide, a computer is completely unnecessary now.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

I found out in Australia, SmartyPig.au gives you over 5% but you have to be in Australia or have travelled there and opened a bank account.

You can't blame someone else for a what big bank chooses to do afterwards.

Get a savings account. SmartyPig and ING a few other online banks give you a better return than the local banks. None of the other accounts are right for you because you are not depositing enough money or you need quick access to your money.

That's assuming you are employed after layoffs so they can use those savings to pay out bonuses to bank CEOs... [thinkprogress.org]

Yes, WalMart is the biggest USA retailer and yes, they will benefit the most... only because they are the biggest retailer. There is nothing stopping a small business from changing their merchant account to one of the big banks to get the reduced processing rate.

Do you use the UPS Store to do the free Overnight shipping of your deposits? Or do you just mail it in regular post? I know you have to fill out a form, but its nice you don't have to pay $0.44 for a stamp! :)

PayPal gives you the alternative option of applying for their credit card: the PayPal Extras MasterCard as a line of credit. Other than that, there is no other backup payment method allowed, besides checking account.

The Dodd-Frank w/ Durbin amendment says DEBIT transaction can be either PIN or signature based. So, for BofA they will only be able to charge $0.21 plus 0.05% of the order total if the card used says DEBIT on it. It doesn't matter if the customer approved the order PIN or signature.

If it was only that easy: "grow the F up". Banks spend billions of dollars to market to you and they know exactly how to reel you in. People have the best of intentions, but in reality more end up in debt than debt free. I'm glad you are responsible. I hope you never have to be in a situation that becomes otherwise.

> Do I have to increase prices to make sure I can cover that 44 cent charge,

When you save $0.10 on gas by paying cash, I think that's worth it. 15 gallons means $1.50. That could be lunch in a month.

51% of Americans do not pay their balance off in full each month. Debit card forces you to spend within your means. Make sure you do not sign up for overdraft protection to avoid the stupid fee. Using a credit card means that 51% of Americas will go into debt.

Dodd-Frank w/ Durbin Amendment specifically says that the law applies only to banks with $10+ billion in assets (e.g. BofA, Wells, Chase, etc). The processing rate for debit cards whether signature or PIN is $0.21 plus 5 basis points of the order total (0.05%).
