There was a Gremlins themed bar in downtown Fargo called Kitchen Gremlin. Green lights, green cartoon gremlins with the big ears, same drippy-lookin’ font for the sign. They closed but I think it was from slow business...but maybe not idk—I was just waiting to hear about them receiving a cease and desist.

Pretty damn reasonable, and yes, cute. I do like Netflix.

I was listening to an interview with the writers and I guess originally his character’s part was super small but they loved the actor so much they expanded his role.

........I hope Barb delivered it.......in person.......

I agree on all points. I’m tired, discouraged, and this craven shit is playing into that b/c they probably sense that a lot of us are at that point. And at least Gawker was able to aggregate all the various news across genres; I miss many articles because they never show up in the feeds.

I really miss gawker. It was nice to have a main page where everyone gathered. I was wondering if Jez would have a story on healthcare and what’s going on in St Louis.

Meanwhile at Nintendo, some one is putting on their ball-stomping boots.

“...please (1) not extend the pop-up beyond its 6 week run ending in September, and (2) reach out to us for permission if you plan to do something like this again.”

As someone who used to make a lot of “inspired fan art,” that’s pretty much the most ideal Cease & Desist one could hope for.

He is seriously the sweetest! I love his character so much. What I really want in season 2 is more Dustin and Luke. They are my faves. (And more Steve, because he’s an idiot and 80's as fuck).

I hope the letter was sent via a small, scrappy kid on bike.

That’s quite cute! There’s a lot to be said for protecting your intellectual property without being a dick about it. (Google Jack Daniels for another good example.)

Our main problem is that Spanish interpreters are called for everyone from México and Guatemala. Where I live, due to patterns of immigration, many of the laborers who find themselves in need of translation only learn Spanish at school — if, indeed, they have attended school at all.

If you die on the job your family gets death benefits from worker’s comp.

Yes, I immediately thought this was much more on the people who asked him to do it rather than on him, assuming this was a last-minute request.

The video above has subtitles that transliterate his signs. His words are vaguely connected to the words being spoken, but ultimately, it just comes across like the ramblings of someone who’s had a stroke. The part you’re asking about starts at around the 1:20 mark. I don’t really know what he was going for when he

Funny enough, even Spanish interpreters can be hard to come by at times, especially right now with ICE arresting so many Spanish speaking individuals. We see this daily in our court system.

So are the signs for “bear monster” at all similar to “Category 5/must evacuate” or did he just think “I can’t sign hurricane, better think of some scary signs that I do know.”

“Greene’s bosses knew he had a passing understanding of sign language, and that was apparently good enough for them.”

I’ve worked (and still do) in state and federal government. We have access to any interpreter of a common language: ASL, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, Urdu, etc. Once I even got a Vietnamese translator! For the lesser common languages, sure, it’s tough.

Don’t blame the county. He had Nelson Mandela’s funeral on his resume!
