Everyone’s in too much of a “headspace induced” kneejerk mode to be thoughtful.

For once, I’d like to read/hear somebody utter:
“You know what, that’s a complex issue, I’ll have to get back to you.”
(Instead of taking: the cheap shot, the one up, the simpleton’s literal contrarian, the power grab etc.)

I’ve noticed nuance and complexity has really gone away. Now, it feels like things have to be good or bad. We can’t sit and think carefully about issues anymore. If things aren’t perfectly good, they are bad.

I’ve been working on a book and sharing very intimate content. A frequent response to my stories about childhood sexual abuse is that I’m so ‘very brave’ or some kind of hero. Though I don’t discount our experiences, I know when I meet fellow abused brethren, I avoid using those terms. It was not bravery or heroism.…

It’s more likely he’s lying because he got caught.

And maybe in some ways we can praise Obama for that as well. He had to serve as a lightening rod, and he did it with grace. In some ways, maybe his presidency contributed to the reigniting of conversations around equality for people of color that are now in the forefront again.

I really don't find Larry Wilmore funny at all. I just can't get behind his delivery and I find some of his humour boring, but this was fucking great. Stuff it, Piers.
