Sony only owns the movie rights to Spidey. Everything else is owned by Disney. Sony paid a bunch of money to have the Insomniac games exclusive, but if Lego makes another Marvel Super Heroes game for example, Spidey will be a part of the roster regardless if Sony wants it or not.

Not true, they don’t have a blanket deal on the entire character, just his solo outings. Hence all of the Spider-Man characters in MUA3 on Switch (a Switch exclusive, published by Nintendo) as well as the Lego games, both mentioned in the article.
