Way to rewrite history buddy. Smartphones as we know it didn’t really exist before 2005. Sure, you had a Kyocera Palm Pilot with a integrated phone but that was really just a palm pilot. Blackberry and other makers had very little pre 2005.

I mean, this list just means that Toyota and Honda buyers tend to keep their cars longer than most consumers. They apparently don’t get sick of the beige. There are plenty of domestic cars that last 15 years or greater, they just change hands.

Having driven a few areas with 75mph limits on the west side of Michigan, I have a few thoughts.

What you are going to have are automotive festival type events, with much less overhead for manufactures. Think Goodwood. Detroit will be good example of this over the summer.

Toledo is about 80% grimy blue collar area. I don’t say that in a negative way at all. There is just a rough edge to it. I grew up in the area and graduate from UT. It has a great zoo and art museum. If you go, visit Tony Packos.

1st: Way too much hyperbole! So almost 60% decided to abandon cars. Ok, if the past 20 year trend is to continue then I am going to assume that car market is going to continue to shrink. Great in the short term but I wouldn’t bank on anything more than a short term victory.
