Because active means you have to have AWD? I am pretty sure that having a bit more cargo space and being little bit higher doesn’t mean you will tackling the rubicon trail. Most people that have AWD only THINK they need it.

Suburu engines have been known to grenade, for no good reason other than poor engineering.
Just think of the crossbranding opportunity!
Because the 80's/90's are so relevant now because? Izuzu just made garbage SUV’s.
This isn’t 2008. A. Fuel Prices would have to rise to at least 6/gallon for it to impact SOME folks. B. ICE vehicles, including trucks and suvs (not mention CUVS), get significantly better MPG than in 2008. C. Fracking isn’t going anywhere and oil reserves are high. D. Most if not all manufactures have PHEV and…
In 10 years, things have changed dramatically. Most of if not all of Ford products by model year 2020 will have ICE and PHEV (there will be at least 2 electrics). If demand for small sedans and hatchbacks arises (which it won’t), then they will import them from China where they are being built.
You mean like we continue to do with banks?
I’m convinced Ford will be ok after having time sleeping on it. It sucks because I like cars but most Mericans that don’t visit Jalop don’t. It’s going to be a race to the bottom for cars sales (and yes, Honda and Toyota are feeling it too). I wouldn’t be surprised if GM, Nissan, Hyundai also severely cut their car…
Toyota slaps so much cash on the hood though. Also, the Accord and Camry are feeling the decline too.
Ford won’t be the last to do this. Everyone thought FCA was nuts a couple years ago, well it’s clear the sedan is headed toward being a much smaller market. Much like the coupe and station wagon before it.
What bail out? You do realize that virtually all of their CUV/SUV will be either gas or hybrid (and some electric) right?
America has spoken. Ford sedans, you must leave the island!
And the pedant shows up!
Lift it 2 inches, don’t call it car and it will sell here in droves. Just call it the Ford Exempt and it will sell in droves. NEVER, NEVER, EVER mention that it is really just a a lifted Fiesta or people will lose interest.
Except most if not all models will be hybrid or electric soon. Plus, even the ICE engines don’t pay much of a penalty in MPG compared to sedans. Plus, you get more space.
Why? CUV/SUV’s aren’t the gas guzzlers that they used to be. You pay roughly the same in gas and a little bit more in price, and get more space (value) to the everyday consumer.
I think you are mistaking the Taurus for the Fusion. The Taurus for it’s footprint is small on the inside. The Fusion isn’t huge but it’s not a penalty box for it’s size. It’s a little smaller than Camry or Accord which are on the cusp of being large cars
The Fiesta is dead man walking. The Focus will be gone for a year for the China one to get here and we may only get the lightly lifted Suburu wanna be size (or active). The Fusion will most likely go on new stretched focus platform. The Fusion is still the most unclear at this point. There is still demand for sedans…
#3 Grounded to the ground! Camry FTW!
In the greater Chicago area, the biggest scourge on the road is Nissan 350/370/InfinityG35/G37 drivers. Look I get that certain makes and models get a bad rep, so I try to give the benefit of doubt. I just can’t any longer. BMW drivers have nothing to fear compared to these drivers.
