I have a friend who married at 18, had two kids, and got divorced about two years later (she never told me why — we aren't super close — but knowing the ex I assume hard drugs like meth were involved). I don't think she has any post-high school education, and she works low-wage jobs.

This is a touchy subject. I may get flamed for this but hear me out. In an ideal world, people wouldn't have more children than they can afford. And I do think it's prudent to be realistic act accordingly with your family planning. (Planning being the operative word.)
