As the driver, I can't comment on backseat comfort while road tripping, but I can say, the recaros in the FoST are horrible for any drive over 2 hours. I can only assume the FiST is worse.

That makes complete sense. Out of curiosity though, I found this on Wikipedia:

Walkin' to the south out of Roanoke

This is what happens when Jalopnik gets tainted with the rest of Gawker media's commenters (and I am one of the few jalops that likes the other Gawker sites).

I initially thought Jenny Lewis was Jenny from The League (apparently played by Katie Aselton). They look eerily similar.

Brie. Fucking. Larson.

Since the '15s are a re-design, I bet you could wait a few months until they start getting delivered and luck into a good price on a '14. Or if you are REALLY lucky, maybe you could find a '13 still on someone's lot. I checked cars.com, but it is hard to believe there are so many '13s listed as new still around, and

I'm quite in love with it, actually. The recaros can leave a bit to be desired on drives > 2 hours, that might be my only complaint. I'm really interested in the RS, but only if the suspension is the same (I couldn't stand to DD anything stiffer than the ST).

This is a joke right? I'm quite fond of what the Koreans are putting out now-a-days (I would've seriously considered a turbo Veloster if it wasn't for that maddening asymmetrical door layout), but you can't say that a loaded Elantra is 'much nicer' than a ford or in any way superior in build quality. If you consider

You're right that I shouldn't've compared the listed MSRP to the haggled price I got, I was just very surprised at how high the Elantra is listed at. I was thinking (assuming) that a fully loaded economy car like the Elantra would list at around 22k, allowing someone to haggle down below 19-20k or so. I consider an

I'm comparing what I paid to what was listed in the article. It was pretty well known around August of last year that they were unloading a ton of '13 STs. A lot of people got ST1s for closer to $21k.

Correct. I purchased the last '13 on the lot the same week they were unloading the '14s. I also negotiated completely via text message over the course of an 8 hour workday, and then went and picked it up after work.

Now that sounds much more reasonable. For someone that wants that crazy good warranty without wanting (or needing) the spine-jarring ride of the ST for a daily driver, I could definitely see that.

True, my comment was really coming from the shock of the prices you listed for those models.

"Loaded models tip the balance slightly back to Hyundai with the a price of $26,360 (including destination) for the Elantra and $27,815 (including destination) for a Golf SEL."

I'm a fan...but the eBay ad says "clean carfax" and "replacement motor" in the same sentence. That would scare the bejeezus outta me.

Your picture needs more ST (as in, Ford REALLY needs to make an Escape ST and Fusion ST).

heh, I did the opposite. Frontier was one of the worst experiences ever, I happily paid the ridiculous $200 early termination fee after only a few months to get something better (charter).

YES!

I learned this the hard way just 4 days ago, though winter tires won't do much for the ice.
