Uh, hey everyone, I’m new to the Kinja commenting.

I read the entirety of Wagner’s Grendel run and I think it holds up great- well worth reading even years later. To me it still has a wild, cutting edge quality (yes, the evil vampire pope is still an epic insane storyline).

Yes indeed, that's where I first heard about it too. Being a fan of Holland I was super excited that there is a version of Only With You on Pacific Ocean Blue as well.
I'm also a big fan of The Trader by Carl Wilson on Holland, but have yet to check out any Carl solo stuff, probably should do that next.

Yep. That and Holland are two of my favorite records of all time.
Also, Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue (usually packaged with the pretty great Bambu) is another example of overlooked Beach Boys related pop mastery.
Hell, I'm gonna make a loop of Surf's Up, Holland, and Pacific Ocean Blue and just ride that for a

Yeah, The Crazies is really an overlooked gem.

Yeah, I can't imagine the scene where Murray borderline rapes / gets forcibly handsy with a fellow employee has aged well. Even 12 year old me was like uhhhh I don't think that's cool.

And a mature, thoughtful internet response was shared by all.

Me before watching video: "Hmmm. Maybe this safe space stuff is going too far."
Me after watching video: "Jesus, you just went into a full Michael Richards-like meltdown on that girl, you douchebag!!"

Arch Hall Jr, while a terrible actor, actually had some legit music chops. His CD on Norton is garage rock goodness.

Yeah, there are some good moments in the new shows, but I've had to turn it off more than once just disgusted with how many damn jokes they're over-stuffing in there. Really calls attention to the fact they're just reading a script.
And I've watched MST3K and Rifftrax for years and never once thought about that, so

Yes, you nailed it. Now quite often they are timing the riffs so that the line starts right when the movie cue comes on screen (sometimes even before). Therefore often making it obvious that this is just guys reading a script. In all the years of original MST3K (or even Rifftrax) they've always timed it so it the

Yeah, they were "jumping the gun" with the timing on the riffing early on, especially in the first episode. By about halfway through the second episode, all seemed worked out and I was fully on board from there on.

I gotta hand it to the reboot, they really bring the laughs.
The guy crying while singing the Pina Colada song in Carnival Magic is maybe the hardest I've laughed at a MST3K gag since Mitchell.

I didn't know there was a Laurel Canyon in Mississippi.

There's a DVD that documents the making of the Hail Hail Rock n Roll concert film (on Netflix as Disc 2 of that film I believe). It is hands down the wildest music related behind the scenes I've ever seen. The man was driven to self destruction, but also somewhat right in his relentless obsession that no one would

Yeah, the story of Wiseau in that book is straight up fascinating. Especially the stuff with his bizarre unlimited wealth he somehow gained in San Francisco.

Well now you don't get any candy. No that's cruel. Just take a teensy piece.
