After listening to the whole thing, it's quite obvious that the guy is guilty. However, it's not obvious that the evidence was sufficient to convict him. And I do think that lots of cases would fall apart with this kind of scrutiny.

"He looked comfortable and that's probably half the battle in a premiere like this."
Damn right. As soon as I saw his relaxed smile in between the jokes, I was like "ok, this is gonna work." Compare his ease at handling this gig with the dead-eyed nightmare of Colin Jost over at SNL Update, which was the worst-case

She's connected to an older culture product you might have heard of- her mom is in the 90s surf rock group The Trashwomen!

I wish he would make a whole movie as the Ray Parker Jr. character.

Found it- starts about 24:40- and holy shit it's pretty bad.

Anybody got a time mark for the story from the clip?

That 2003 version has its moments, but man oh man did it suck a lot of the energy out of the source material. It seemed really limited by the restrained, stodgy "period piece" vibe, whereas the book has a lot more life, spunk, and eccentricity. I actually think a modern re-telling might be the best way to do the

Yep. When I saw the photo immediately thought "oh man, THAT movie" and the whole thing came flooding back after 15+ years.

Ah, you beat me to it. Mine was gonna be, "Objection! On the grounds that you wouldn't ask Dwight Yoakam that."

I wonder if the movie deals with the fact that Efil4zaggin is a rape-promoting piece of garbage. (and I love the first album).

Yeah, as I remember these same guys liked to transition from "edgy" booze-y anecdotes to tales of hanging out with politicians or minor celebrities. There was a sense of a controlled choice of when to slum it and then a quick return to upper crust respectability. Bukowski had a genuine seediness that unnerved them.

Man oh man did my professors hate Bukowski. Many of them were hard drinking Southern Lit. types, and championed some pretty wild literature, but even the slightest mention of Bukowski in class would bring a death stare of shame and reproach. One time a prof. even talked to me in a kinda mock baby voice and said "Oh,

Why why why do these millennials always need shitty keyboard in with their punk?

You nailed it there. This season is such a weird combination of "That's off kilter on purpose, and pretty cool" along with "That's just off, and just bad" (the latter usually involving Vince Vaughn).
At this point if someone more effective were in Vaughn's place, I'd be a full-on fan of this cuckoo season. By last

Yep, this is the only show I've fallen asleep at. Sat in a cushioned theater seat, and made it maybe 10-15 minutes in before hardcore naptime. Woke up towards the end when the drummer walked through the venue playing his drumsticks on the walls and seatbacks.

The best part is the close-up of vigorous chili stirring during We Built This City.

Ya GOTTA have the older brother!

Let's not forget this…

Yeah, I felt the same way for a long time, until I suddenly noticed it. I think it was with a 320 mp3 of Led Zeppelin, which led me to do a test with a few other mp3s (all 320 kbs). Now I can't NOT hear it. It's so major in my ears that I can't believe that Itunes is sticking so fervently to the mp3 format.

I just went back to CDs, because I realized they sound a hell of a lot better than mp3s. Like insanely, noticeably, fuller and better. So it will be CDs for me until I'm ready to get into the whole FLAC thing which is supposed to be equal to CD sound.
