I tell the new employees not from Minnesota that above freezing is ‘shorts weather’ here. They laugh and think I am kidding. But when it hits 35 to 40 degrees outside, and the pale flesh of the homegrown employees comes out.

Yes, yes we do.

Oh crap, the dog. I cannot fathom how people drive with a dog in their lap.

Nice to know you work in the same building as I do. My coworkers are the worst at this, driving cumbersome Chevy Traverses, and not giving a fuck about the others around them.

Ha! I was just thinking this. My mother-in-law has had more bumper dings and repairs than you can imagine.

Oooo....excellent GTI!

My wife misses both her ‘88 GTI (electrical nightmare? You don’t say!) and her 2001 GTI, and her ‘73 Super Beetle Wolfsburg Edition. It looked like this beauty, but with much more rust since it’s Minnesota.

Great. Now all my coworkers are looking at me laughing like a loon while I eat my lunch. Great Work!

The lower trims are terrible, and the upper level trims are not much better. Start with a better, more supportive seat, Subaru, and include a power controls for the passenger.

Very, very true. Golf R, GTI, STI, or WRX all fit the bill and are fun to drive.

When we looked at newer cars a few years ago, my wife checked out the minivans. I flat out refused to consider them unless she was daily driving them. Suddenly, they were not so attractive anymore.

^^ This. ^^ My wife drove her 2 door GTI with our son for his first 4 years. I drove our 02 Forester, which was not much bigger. You can make it work and work well.

Ha! How my family didn’t kill each other when we traveled from Wisconsin to Florida with six of us (2 adults, 4 teens aged 13-18) packed in an ‘86 Taurus, I’ll never know.

My wife teaches high school kids and has the same manner. Works like a charm on those who hover.

Amen.

We had a similar problem with friends and city-suburb living. My wife has some long time friends that could not be bothered to come from the suburbs into Minneapolis to visit. Now that we moved, it’s too far to visit because we don’t live on the same side of metro. Same crap, different day.

HAHAHAHAHA! I love that movie!

My wife drove her manual 2-door ‘01 GTI for our son’s first 4 years. She could fit everything it in, swing the carrier in the back, drive like a maniac, and will look for another one when she tires of her ‘14 Forester XT. (Surprise, surprise, she misses the manual.)

You are not alone. I was just thinking the same thing.

I enjoy a large Sunday meal with leftovers for several days. My wife will eat the leftovers once, but not that second day after, leaving me to finish it off.
