The oldest car I’ve driven was an 1980s Volkswagen Cabriolet. I know it’s not that old but it’s older than me. I used to work for a Volkswagen shop and this thing was in all the time. It felt like I was driving a tuna can. Oh, and the best part. IT WAS AN AUTOMATIC so it barely made use of the 60ish horsepower it

My 2006 Hyundai Elantra. A mechanic friend was selling one for dirt cheap and it was a manual so I jumped on it. It lasted maybe a week before the brand new clutch self destructed. I got that fixed under warranty and then the waterpump failed taking the headgasket with it and warping the head. I ended up selling it

Can confirm. I own a 2002 Outback (same 5 speed trans and NA motor as the Imprezas). They’re great cars. Decently reliable and can take a beating. Absolute monsters in the snow. Great cars to learn stick in as well. Perfect for your budding Ken Block or Colin MacRae.

Ourselves. We will always be “that guy” in a social setting. Everyone wants our opinions on cars because we are the established gear heads. We financially ruin ourselves modding our cars or repairing our lovable beaters. And of course, everyone wants our help fixing their junk.

Got a reply:

I emailed the guy out of curiosity. I’m expecting to hear from a Nigerian Prince. Will keep you all updated.

For the record these were all done in my 2002 Subaru Outback. Poor thing still runs great.

Can confirm, I used to work with a kid who had a straight piped E36 328i. You could hear that thing from half a mile away. The car was a total piece of crap but it sure sounded good.

We got something similar in the States though. I give you the Infiniti G20.

At least in my neck of the woods (Maryland) I get a lot of luck with “project” or “turbo”. You either get someone’s hacked car or an utter steal. Once a week I probably look under “turbo” and spend hours. Lots of old RWD Volvos and other cool imports.

Worst: 1990 Ford F150 with the straight 6 and the 4 speed manual. Literally the slowest vehicle I’ve ever been. The poor thing couldn’t get out of it’s own way if it tried too.

My high school parking lot was possibly the most generic lot ever. My 2007 Cobalt (not mine anymore thank God) did not help. Mostly mid 2000s import cars and SUVS. Just a bunch of boring middle class cars. The only memorable cars were a twin turbo Audi A6 owned by this rich kid and then my buddies modded Volkswagen

Saw one of these outside of my apartment last week. I had to explain to my roommate what the heck it was and why I was so excited to see it.

They did make a FWD SVX. They’re even rarer.

@1:11 I guess Bernie Sanders was so fed up after the election that he quit and now works in IT.

Aren’t RAV 4s front wheel drive? That poor car is going to need a lot more than just a new wheel.

Have you ever seen the Youtube channel B is for Build? That dude does stuff like this in his free time. It’s incredible.

I spent WAY too much time on this:

We had one of these in my Automotive class in high school. We never could get it running but it was a great looking car. I still check Craigslist every once in awhile to see if there’s a cheap one for sale.

I can’t wait until I see this shared on Facebook yet again...
