Really? You did this whole post and not mention the only reason anyone even remembered is because Grant Gustin posted about it?

I believe that I’ve seen every episode of every show in the “Arrowverse” including the adjacent shows Superman & Lois and Naomi. While sometimes the shows didn’t have the highest of production values, they were always watchable. I’m still angry that Legends of Tomorrow never got a proper ending.
That said, an X-Men universe where a Captain Marvel exists leads to the possibility of Rogue being up to full power, which would be good to see.
Jean Grey, having re-tapped into her connection to the Phoenix Force, had managed to extricate Charles’ consciousness from Cassandra’s sabotaged body, hold it in herself, and then store it in Cerebra.
William’s daughter is a better idea than the pirate plot, but how do you get the big reveal? It’s one thing for <spoilers, I guess for a movie old enough to drink> the prince to retcon William into nobility, but nobility is still the only thing preventing him from competing. As William’s daughter (and presumably only…
SOLD !
I recently had the itch to make an indie short to get back into acting so I looked up some information on producing indie film and was amazed to find those people still talk about actors and acting as if we’re this disposable commodity you deserve to get on the cheap or free. And the big studios see it the same way,…
Have you ever considered the possibility that this is the best the tech will ever look, sans direct human intervention? Especially now that LLMs are being fed on “synthetic data” from other models because there’s not enough real data to work with? Look up “Hapsburg AI.”
I could have lived with a story that took him off Tatooine, it just would have been nice if this time in his life when he was supposed to be hiding from everyone and everything he knew didn’t involve him becoming deeply involved in the people and things that he left in the first place. Like, he could still have saved…
I like the idea of Obiwan struggling with life post-prequels. I just don’t need a story where he meets Vader again before ANH or where he meets and becomes friends with Leia as a child. There’s almost certainly an Obiwan story that I would have liked, but it would have been anything but leaning into the prequels and…
Maybe, I think Jonathan Kent dying of a heart attack that even Superman can do nothing about is a key character moment for Clark (and yes, I know it’s from the original movie and not the comic).
Honestly, how good Obiwan is in The Clone Wars and then Rebels makes the Obiwan show that much worse. The Obiwan from Twin Suns has spent his time away from the galactic spotlight honing and growing his connection to the Force. And as you say, the fight with Maul so beautifully brings all of their history to a close…
Velma, one of the most universally loathed pieces of animation in recent memory, hated by both critics and audiences, is getting a season 2, while countless more deserving projects are either canceled or shelved. I’m convinced Zaslav and the execs at HBO actively hate their viewership.
Ditto. My attitude was, “Well, let’s give this a shot.” when I fired it up and then I was a raving maniac exclaiming to everyone they must watch it. The best thing so far and I’ve been there since seeing the first film back in 77 with my grandma on a Saturday afternoon.
I had absolutely the same reaction from the first mention of the concept right up until the first trailer. And I was SO wrong! When people talk about ‘doing something different’ with Star Wars, THIS IS THAT.
I mean, Andor is at least in the discussion for the best thing that has ever been made in the Star Wars universe, including the original trilogy. For something that’s been as culturally impactful as Star Wars has, that’s a big deal.
It’s a good one for sure. And you’re absolutely right that Filoni really understood that the important thing for the scene wasn’t an elaborately choreographed, flip-filled fight. It was bringing the story of these two characters with so much history between them to an emotional close.
Twin Suns?
The most important thing to making a fight scene good isn’t the choreography, it’s the stakes of the fight and the investment that the story has made in the characters. If the audience doesn’t care about the characters then it’s just pointless flipping around. If the outcome of the fight isn’t something that the…
Lightsaber fights are pretty hit or miss, I think. I don’t think you can point at one particular era and say “those were the best” cause in the end it depends on who’s fighting and how serious they (and their actors) are into it.
