It’s a fair point that all the studios are in the same boat, but I don’t think it’s just about competition. I don’t think any execs like having to explain to their shareholders why revenue is down, which could well be something they have to do at some point.

I apologise for not scrupulously checking release dates whilst making a stupid joke.

Oh I have no doubt, but at some point, whether it’s next quarter or next year, they’re going to end up several months behind and then trying to spin a $100 mil saving into a win is going to look pretty foolish.

“So, great news - for Q2 we’re up $100 million because we haven’t had to pay anyone!”

Oh I absolutely understand preferring Hot Fuzz! And I actually watched an analysis video on youtube just the other day that highlighted a few things I’d missed even in half a dozen viewings, so I really do think my opinion could change next watchthrough. I think I just felt Shaun was ‘purer’, if that makes sense? The

The last time I watched them all I think I finally managed to get my own perspective settled - Shaun is the best overall film of the three, Hot Fuzz has the best cast, which elevates it to an incredible level, and World’s End, whilst not quite reaching the heights of the other two, does have the final confrontation

I think the way they could work around G’iah being overpowered is that she’s not as practiced with her powers as the actual heroes, but her and Gravic did both seem to hit the ground running for their fight. A bit of a testing period between them as they both figured out what they were now capable of would have been

Yeah, even seeing quick clips of the fight scenes here there’s nothing about it that looks bulky or awkward, they’re genuinely great! I can’t imagine the work that must have gone into performing in the suits!

I loved it when I was a kid but haven’t seen it for years. I read a retrospective a little while back that really made me think about it in a new light though, looking at how well-made it is on a technical level. Not to mention just how incredible the animatronics are. I really need to watch it again!

I seem to remember the cinematography of that first film going far harder than you’d expect for a film about mutated reptiles doing martial arts.

I only saw it the once but I distinctly remember being quite pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Will have to watch it again at some point.

It’s well worth being on your radar, it’s great! Give it a go. Be prepared for a bit of a slow burn, but one that’s rewards sticking with it.

If you don’t have a physical copy sitting on your shelf, you don’t own it. You’re renting it.

This reads like she actually sat down at the Avid herself. Which I’m sure would be supremely entertaining. In reality I’m imagining a lot of finger snapping and screen touching...

That whole rescue is my favourite live-action Batman action scene. Realising the ‘hostages’ are really the henchmen, Batman taking down the SWAT team and the goons whilst simultaneously protecting the hostages...it just felt like the most genuinely ‘Batman’ action scene we’ve ever had.

Considering we hear everyone speaking Basic as English, I’m content to just consider it part of the translation. In the same way that in Lord of the Rings the hobbits’ names are actually Maura, Ban, Kali and Razar, but every time they’re mentioned we hear the ‘translated’ names.

Don’t we have enough gritty modern reboots of beloved 80's cartoons?

I’m a bit torn. The kind of exposure the films can get by being featured here could give a very welcome boost to people who are just starting out in the industry. On the other hand, as someone who has worked on some indie horror films that you are never going to watch or hear of...there is often a reason for that.

This is good, give Monica some experience in working as part of a team.

There’s a very quick shot in the first trailer that seemed to be exactly that, all three of them tackling the villain and every time they use a power they swapped positions. I thought it looked amazing!
