To be fair, this is the first time in a long time nintendo's dropped the price this quickly. I expected a $30 drop a year from launch and a new model a year after that, but this is just crazy.

I'd guess they figured this would sell close to as well and cost less.

well, before that they're weren't nearly as many shooters on consoles. I'd say that's a fairly accurate statement.

It did do a lot of things early, especially on consoles. Grenade buttons, melle buttons, 2 weapon slots, crosshair friction-and previously I can't think of many really big console shooters, specifically of the spacedude genre.

while I definitely agree, some decent options are to get a case with a battery in it that connects to the power port, or an external battery brick that has a USB port on it.

I'm hoping the rubber bits on the back will help too. Plus it looks convex rather than concave like the psp's (especially the 3000s) so it seems they might be going somewhere with this.

The psp 2/3000 was fine for me. 1000 was a bit chunky but was fine for me.
