I'm not saying other companies have it right. Just that Tesla isn't the messiah like everyone is making them out to be.
Saying that you can program circles around CMU and MIT grads because you wrote a program at 11 is like me saying I can lap F1 and LMP racers because I drove my first car at 12. That has nothing to do with it. I built my first computer at 11 and wrote my first program at 13, but I just didn't have the skills to go into…
Tesla's ststem is interesting from a tech point of view, but even the production car's system is full of flaws. And IMO, the UI is terrible for things like climate control and basic vehicle functions.
You have an excellent point. My sophomore year roommate easily earns 75% more than I do (we're 2 years out of college, I was MechE he was ECE) but I figured living in Sunnyvale, CA, after taxes, rent, and other living costs his left over take home is probably 20-25% more than mine. But he says that its worth it…
"Half-decent" as you put it isn't on the same caliber as top. UofM is a top school for mechanical and aerospace engineerng and automakers and airplane makers are filled with those grads rather than "half-decent" engineers. You don't see Apple or Facebook recruiting "half-decent" students.
Yeah, all the OEMs are scrambling to open up tech development offices in that area, but I don't think they can still match tech company salaries. Most of my friends with ECE or CS degrees of mine got 6 figure offers straight out of school various companies out there. I'm figuring automakers would probably be in the…
The biggest issue is that everyone with a CS or HMI degree from the top schools in the country go to Apple, Google, Facebook, Nvidia, Twitter, etc. There aren't too many MIT and CMU grads going to Ford or Chrysler because of non-competitive salaries and lack of innovative technology. Until that changes, Caddilac Cue,…
Until it crashes. I've been in a Model S when the center stack froze entirly. How do I ctrl+alt+del a Tesla?
yeah
Awww. You missed getting my car into the frame by about 10 feet.
Not a bad price with GPS! My dad bought his for $70 without it a few months ago. I may just have to pick it up and retire my current camera to my 2nd car.
What I did with mine was that I peeled off the sticky 3M tape on, and replaced it with high strength plastic velcro so that I could move it between my cars. Still leaves a velcro strip on the windshield, but I can live with that. But mine doesn't have the removable base like this one does.
Alright, so he's clearly very seriously injured, but who wouldn't be? That thing has to weigh at least as much as half an old Lincoln.
The dashcam linked in this post is over a year old at this point and not worth it. Like laptops and phones, dashcams come out with new models constantly rendering the old ones obsolete. If you wanted to buy one now, I recommend the Mini 0801. A bunch of my friends use it, and I will be upgrading to it as soon as my…
I understand what it means, but I'm still pretty sure its wrong seeing as how the base models of other cars in Fords line up are getting color screens now. That and all the Mustangs come with Track Apps, so I doubt those are going to be on a single color screen.
Except Track Apps are standard. They're not going to put track apps on a monochromatic display. Plus the Fusion and Escape have color screens in the gauge in the lowest trims. I think its a typo.
Monochromatic? Eh?
What BMW is this? Never knew BMWs of this era ran Le Mans.
I didn't know you were from Worcester! Come to the Hebert Candy Mansion cruise-in on July 3rd, I'll have my Mustang there!
