it only gets down to the low '80s at night (100ish during the day), which is still really too warm to sleep here. So the windows have to stay closed. It's usually still 90+ at midnight.

Any A/C experts want to comment on closing vents? I used to be all for it, but if the duct is 20 feet from the blower and the vent is closed, then the A/C unit is forcing cold air down the duct, hitting the closed vent, and leaking into your attic (at worst) or just sitting in the duct at best.
