Thanks for the book recommendation. I am stepmother to a 16 year old and I struggle to know how to support her sometimes. Her mom died when she was 12 from an overdose so she has an extra layer that she is dealing with.

I think it’s just a really tough time for girls, and I don’t know that social media makes it worse than it used to be because I grew up without that and it was pretty bad as well. It’s different for sure but I don’t know that it’s necessarily worse. Even without social media, 11 to 14 were some of the roughest years…

My daughters are 3.5yrs and 3.5mos, and I am praying, PRAYING, that by the time they are adolescents the social media pendulum has swung the other way and it’s no longer such a barometer of “cool” and “popular” as it is now. That’s probably wishful thinking, huh?
