Our 2012 Volt seems to work just fine for this family. Most people never use the middle rear seat anyways, I think its cool that it has the buckets in the back though sadly I bet this is one of the things going away for the 2016 model.

I think even more impressive than the insane top speed, it how quickly it slows down from that insane top speed for the right hander at the end of the straight.
