Well, in the case of DKR, I think assuming its a fantasy sits better for some than just accepting it was really bad filmmaking (in that the end moment happens literally in the same place Alfred imagined it earlier, and that no one recognized a huge supposedly dead celebrity in public).

A few outliers does not a trend make. I work with teens, and while they don’t have the hate-on for the prequels old fans have, they still seem to, by and large, prefer the originals.
