Is it really too difficult for commenters to realize that an employer has the responsibility of telling an employee they are fired, when they are actually fired?

No, it’s the lack of clarity as to when the termination went into effect. Even if you break the rules (which you obviously shouldn’t), the onus is on the employer to say, “Now you are fired.”

Old enough to know that there is official protocol employers need to follow when terminating someones employment. And conditional statements are not it.

Maybe I’m still a little salty from my own firing, but people, there’s a HUGE difference between telling someone, “you need to shape up your act or we’re letting you go” and then telling them on Facebook that they’re fired and, “because of your excessive drinking, we’re letting you go.”
