I mean, I’m surprised more shoes don’t get thrown at these events. If I was there wobbling around all night in four-inch heels and Spanx, I probably would have even had to borrow a shoe, since it looks like Paris Hilton, Devon Windsor, and Kendall Jenner were all present.

Oh, sorry, dumb post —she’s designing for Nike obviously, still probably “mass market” even at $200  a pair.

To me, the post feels more like a recognition that fashion week can be really discouraging and annoying to black women who care about clothes. There are other posts that get into data, but this seems more “don’t panic, I’ve got you.”

That’s wonderful if true, and a testament to several years of concerted activism, starting with Bethann Hardison’s Diversity Coalition and backed up by bloggers and journalists like Ms. Kai.

I so want to be able to afford a piece like that, whether or not I’m worthy!
