Anyone who can call themselves a Star Wars fan knows that the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps were born from the Clone Troopers which were all clones of Jango Fett. Jango was played by Temuera Morrison and his young clone/son Boba was played by Daniel Logan. Both actors are Maori.

It's actually pretty clearly set up in the original trilogy. Although not explicitly set out and the casting is pretty white to begin with, it's pretty clear that there are no non-humans in the Empire's power structure in contrast to, for instance, Admiral Ackbar. (Not even counting Yoda here...) And Lando stands…

Who says he's a Stormtrooper? He's dressed as one. So was Luke Skywalker in one scene. He may be spying on the "Empire" and is running away when he gets caught. That would explain his apparent concern at the sound of probe droids.

The only legitimate objection I can think of is that the Empire was known to be fantastically and humanly racist—only white humans, no aliens. But to that, all I can think of is that he's dressed as a Storm Trooper for infiltration purposes—like Hans and Luke did in A New Hope.
