The Fly was awesome, but The Fly 2 has the best special effects I’ve ever seen in anything. That was the high point of practical effects, as far as I can tell. They pull off some astonishing shots. I hope CG looks that real and natural some day.

Ehn, if the building were more dynamic and interesting, as I’m sure it must be in the single player mode of Fortnite, I might lament it being nerfed, but it’s not a very interesting mechanic. Everyone just builds the same little tower, then either peeks to kill (long and medium range) or jumps down for the death from…
The problem with Rome is that they’ve already proven, beyond the shadow of any doubt, that they cannot do their show without Ciaran Hinds. That first season was absolutely stellar, but the second was like a bad Mexican soap opera based on the surviving characters from the first season. Losing their second best actor,…
I’m hoping Brian Cox is back. One of the things that bugged me most about the early ending was that we spent all of season three setting up John Langrishe and the theater company as symbols of civilization finally cementing in Deadwood, but then never got to see any of it really come to fruition.
Thanks to everyone who never let it go. The people who really made this happen are the ones who have been relentless in their quest for this movie, for over a decade now, on twitter, in comments sections, on various social media, in letters to HBO, and in articles at various entertainment websites. The people who…
The Wire. The Leftovers. The original Swedish/Danish version of The Bridge, Bron Broen. Carnivale. It’s not a huge list, but it’s slightly longer than “Deadwood”, although I would agree that Deadwood is the best of the best, hands down.
Yeah, really, good luck finding a job where they don’t expect you to be polite to the customers, even when you run to them during off-work hours. We all know how exhausting guys can be and often are with the endless mansplaining, but that kid was not being rude or disrespectful to Price, and her response was way off…
Yeah, I barely click on Nathan articles any more. He’s always got an angle. There’s always a complaint, or a bad guy, or some rampant injustice only Nathan is smart and woke enough to see. When (for example) Cecilia writes an article, it’s because Cecilia has more information about a subject than you do, because she’s…
Viewer controlled cameras are the leap esports really, really need to make, in my opinion. Like, you think I’m watching Fortnite as an esport when someone else is choosing which of the 100 players I’m following around? Pffft. Think again. It would be fantastic in OWL, too, though. I don’t need to watch an hour of…
Yeah, the OWL casters have talked about how it’s the discord orb that really makes Zen a big value to his team. That damage buff is super useful, especially when you combine it with a well organized pro team that can and will focus on targets.
So what happened to the account thing, though? Supposedly (there was a whole big IGN article about it) today’s update was going to make it possible to sign into your existing touched-by-a-playstation Epic account on the Switch, but that doesn’t seem to be working.
The Emmys are only going to get more and more off kilter as “television”, in its various forms, continues to expand. There were something like 500 scripted shows in production this year. The Emmy’s operate on a peer voting system, which means it’s other people in the entertainment industry who nominate. Everyone in…
Obviously I’m biased in this instance, but I can count on one hand the episodes of anything, ever, I’ve seen that were as deftly executed as Time’s Arrow. That was a genuine masterpiece.
I’m with you. I was totally blown away by his work in Counterpart. How fucking crazy is it that JK Simmons has better chemistry with himself than most actors do with anyone. He must have a very talented stand-in to play off of in those scenes.
That’s an interesting idea.
No, I’m sorry! 1989 just seems old by tv standards. Or maybe to people who were four in 1989. Plus it was my dad who suggested it to me. lol
The pixel art in the main picture is really cool!
That’s interesting. I was just watching her in this really old tv miniseries called Lonesome Dove. Before that, I had no idea who she was, and now here she is again. She has certainly aged well. She still looks amazing and Lonesome Dove has got to be from like twenty-five or thirty years ago.
I think the Rock thinks he is Kurt Russell, and can carry the kind of charming, silly but awesome movies (like Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China, The Thing) that Kurt Russell was so good at in the 80s. It’s sad. Because the Rock is many things, but he is no Kurt Russell.
These things reach the point where you’re mostly just going in circles. All the nice and/or civilized people who don’t want to be offensive and/or crude have already stopped calling people those kinds of names. At the same time, people who want a reaction are always going to be drawn to those same words, not despite…
