That's a good point that I hadn't considered. I didn't let it spoil the moment, but I did find it strange. 'Creeped out" was probably overdoing the description.

What about the woman who turns down an offer of oral sex? I ran into one recently and it straight creeped me out.

No he wasn't, merely the most unstoppable...

Awesome, that's great news!

Thanks for the reasoned response in the face of my semi confrontational post.

I could see that possibility. Though I'm willing to bet the replacement of significantly enhanced bodies will come far sooner. We'll have to deal with the possibility of people simply choosing to no longer be human for all intents and purposes and all the societal angst that's going to come with it.

Oh god think of the panicked, morally couched blow back from that one...

Straight up high five to that dude.

Truly the only organ failure/replacement we'll need to fear inside of the next fifty years will be the Brain. I'm not sure how we'll rejuvenate it, and replacement is basically out of the question until we figure out a Ghost in the Shell style cyber brain.

While it's fun to say grandma's prosthetic hip makes her a cyborg, it really doesn't It's not an enhancive device, it's a support system. If that was the definition we were using for Cyborgs then everyone in a wheel chair ever is a cyborg. Hell if we go that far then anyone who's ever walked into and used an elevator

Ok the phrase "just because I can doesnt mean that I should" doesnt completely apply here. What is the underlying discomfort with this concept that has you balking at the possibilities.

The artificial limbs, hip replacements, and brain implants still fail to produce effects that are even a fraction as quality as what nature has hobbled us with. Until the results of these technologies are on part of better than organics they aren't cybernetics, they're just prosthetics.

Except lying or not, profit or not, the result of what Oswalt is saying here results in a profit for everyone, women especially. As a result I choose to withhold my skepticism.

Insofar as they are only self-held opinions, ones not necessarily based on facts, collective opinion, or reality.

Well theres a bit of a difference there. See a long time ago there was an episode of Family Matters where young Eddie Winslow lied to his teacher and told her his father would beat him if he didnt recieve a good grade. Eventually through a series of comical pratfalls Eddie's deception is discovered. The moral is

Also how are your answers valid? They're valid 'opinions' sure, but there are also a lot of people who have the opinion that the moon landing didn't happen. Just because you hold a valid opinion doesn't automatically qualify it as either an acceptable opinion, or as a credible fact. I'm sorry but everyone not agreeing

No it's not that you're automatically incorrect, it's that you've immediately swept in, without any facts, pointed out VERY specific things about Patton's appearance, personality, and stature, and compared them to that of a sex offender. That's not only not an argument, it's damned close to slander.

Wow, that is a lot of very specific jumps to very specific assumptions. I don't know Oswalt as a person either, but you sure seem to believe you do.

Wow, way to miss the point with Kanada's bike concept man.

Holy shit, I can't tell you how weird it is to see someone fighting around the Seattle Center. I've been going there my entire life. That's seriously compelling.
