Gutierrez wasn’t a choice by Haas. As part of the deal Ferrari got to chose one driver, so it makes sense they chose their B guy. But yeah there are better options out there. McLaren might want to hold on to KMag in the event that JB leaves and they don’t think Vandoorne is ready.

No team wants their drivers fighting on track and most drivers don’t want a teammate who won’t take back seat. Which is why Alonso left McLaren under a mutual agreement.

Rosberg isn’t rubbish. He is a GP2 Champion. Let’s not forget Alonso lost to LH in overall standings when Hamilton was a rookie and Alonso was 2 time WDC. Rosberg gave a very experienced LH a run for his money.
