I’ve always seen the lack of diversity on the show as an implicit criticism of silicon valley culture. I think having a diverse cast despite the whiteness of the real silicon valley would serve to protect the very people they’re trying to mock.

If a woman was wearing this tee, I would definitely read it with the implication/connotation that this is about empowering yourself to speak directly.

You can read it that way. A better shirt would say: “You are a rapist if you aren’t sure you have your partner’s consent.” Because the subtext of this shirt is that women are responsible for stopping rape. We’re still in a rape culture if we have to remind women that they “allowed” to say no.
