Indeed. A Mark Mulcahy appearance/performance would send this over the top. I just listened to the Polaris album, and if there's any better soundtrack to watching the sun go down in the suburbs, I don't know what it is.

Yeah, this is pretty much the only thing that's going to get me through another February in NYC. (Wow, that sounded way less depressing in my head….)
Am I the only person who thinks that Person of Interest is getting better? It's still a little too procerdural-y, but…I dunno, maybe it's just the Ben Linus withdrawal talking….
Am I the only one who found the "this story is four matches long" scene unreasonably creepy? I mean, great cinematography, but…yeesh.
The "Best of Robert Pollard 2008-2009" that's out there (Rockathon website?) is actually a damn solid compilation of latter-day Pollard/Circus Devils/Boston Spaceships songs, and a good intro to the post-GBV stuff. (Although it really should have included Dorothy is a Planet.) They've just put out another one (Best…
Second that.
Reading these posts, I'm slightly less embarrassed than I was five minutes ago to admit that I'm kind of getting into Person of Interest now. That last episode really picked things up a bit, sentient machine in particular. (I like the idea that Limping Linus might be working for *it*.) But, seriously, Caviezel has…
I dunno, most of the GBV fans I know tend to be beer-drinkin' dude-types, but all a little on the odd side, like, they drive pickup trucks and have also read everything David Foster Wallace ever wrote.
Nice close read, Yeti.
Personally, I think that as the X-Files reviews get into the later, shittier seasons, the comment quota is going to go up, way up. Especially those of the outraged, obscenity-laden variety.
A new Wild Flag video, a new Guided By Voices song…it's a good day for high kicks.
Eh. I just saw X, and they were awesome, and John and Exene have been divorced since, like, 1984. So if those two weirdos can deal, I'm sure Thurston and Kim can keep SY together if they want to.
Word. Let's get some season 6 up in here.
The Hold on Hope EP is indeed great - and if you can get the import version with "Perfect This Time" on it, even better. But, hey, Trenchant, give Half Smiles another chance - I was kind of put off by it too, at first. All those acoustic guitars. But upon further listens, I really came to enjoy it as a bittersweet…
Acorns & Orioles may be one of the most underrated songs in the GBV canon. Actually, you could say that about half the songs on UTBUTS. Damn,I love that record.
Heh, heh. Apian cockblock.
Yeah, 10:13. Or 11:21. EST, preferably, so old fogeys like myself won't fall asleep during Martin Landau's first monologue.
Indeed. Next SUMMER?!
…Okay, but then, when they looked in the mirror, wouldn't they still see themselves?
Intangible, agreed about Dreamland. Anything that features Michael McKean and a spoof of Duck Soup is hard not to like, but seeing McKean-as-Mulder and vice versa, but the opposite for the Navajo lady/pilot keeps it from being one of the classic episodes.
