Thank you for saving me the time of typing out an equivalent comment... and more elegantly than I would have managed, too!

I guess I can excuse that by mentally adding a “more” between “hopefully” and “growth,” but I genuinely don’t get “for once.” I don’t know what to read that besides “I used to actively root for her demise!”

That’s basically my answer when my husband asks why I watch all these trashy shows with horrible people (i.e.- everything on Bravo). Its the psychology of it all that fascinates me so much!

For once, I’m wishing the best to her in the journey towards recovery- and hopefully growth!

Watching her (this season in particular) has been a fascinating study in narcissism.

I’m calling “troll” on this idiot. Or “stubborn idiot who refuses to acknowledge they were wrong.”

I’m not denying that- but you suggested he was assuming she felt this way, when in reality it seems that she’s voiced support for this.

Based on the fact that he specifically says they’ve talked about it, I would imagine she has expressed that to him, not that he’s assuming.

For what it’s worth, I met my husband and OKCupid, and my brother met his wife on Match. No, you can’t get to know someone immediately from a profile, but in my time on the apps, I discovered that you can tell if you have some level of connection by messaging with someone. With my husband, as well as with a handful of

I loved Missoula (as much as one can love a book about something some infuriating and heartbreaking) and have been considering Just Mercy, thanks!

Finally, SOMEONE who doesn’t like Larson!

I loved Bad Blood, and Radium Girls has been on my list. Thanks!

I still can’t understand why so many people like Devil in the White City. How did everyone else make it through endless chapters on landscape design and such?

I remember trying to read it maybe 8 years ago, and couldn’t get into it, but I’ve been meaning to give it another shot.

I agree, I really loved it!

Hahaha, you and I have similar taste- I’ve read half of these. Couldn’t get through THinWC, loved UtBoH and KotFM, was meh on IBGitD, and have had TPWED on my list for awhile. Thanks!

Thank you! I really liked Going Clear. I read I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, and as much as it breaks my heart, I only found it ok. Maybe it’s because I already knew the backstory of how the book came to be before reading it- McNamara passing away and the book having to be pieced together by Patton Oswalt and her editor. I

I’d love to take this opportunity to get any and all good true crime\investigative book recs. I’m a huge literary nonfiction fan, and am always looking for suggestions. What I particularly like is anything that tells the story of something- an event, a discovery, whatever. I’ve read and loved Jonestown, The Good

Yes, especially to the bit about homemade ketchup. I don’t need homemade, or artisan, or chipotle flavored. Just regular.

I’d love to try this, do you have a recipe to share or is it top secret?
