The fact that Obama himself filibustered Alito is not going to help this process any as well. I think it will be interesting to see if the republicans are hurt if they deny Obama’s nomination later this year in the general election.

I know this won’t be a popular here, but I think republicans will point out the fact that Obama filibustered justice Alito’s nomination. Also, Sen. Schumer gave a speech in 2007 saying they should block any more Bush appointees. Both sides have done it, whether that is right or not is a whole other debate.
