I did the free one-month trial for students when I first dropped my cable, and I just didn't really feel the need to keep the service. Yeah, it's nice having the Criterion Collection, but Hulu doesn't come close to being a replacement for cable considering that almost all of their content is network TV stuff.
I did enjoy Marc's occasional, "Come on…" interjections during parts of Bob's stories.
I've always enjoyed Jimmy Pardo's "blurt" laugh.
I listened to three or four episodes before I got sick of hearing them laugh hysterically at their own jokes. It gave me bad flashbacks of Comedy Film Nerds.
My reaction was more along the lines of, "Why did Capatch ask to be on the show when he seems to be a fairly well-adjusted guy?" I think Gilmartin might have assumed that he was maybe being a bit guarded since he wasn't describing a particularly painful existence but felt he was a good candidate as a guest.
I don't know. I thought the only real lull in the show was Gaffigan's call. Chris Elliott was plugging his show, but I thought he made for a very entertaining guest. Gaffigan, on the other hand, sounded like he was calling purely out of duty. In fact, he sounded the same on Maron's show yesterday. Jim still enjoys…
Yeah, I think I read that a while back. The shot of the cat tethered to the chair is still not easy to watch though. Then again, Bad Boy Bubby is pretty fucked up in general.
I'm surprised I haven't seen any mentions of Bad Boy Bubby here. The scenes involving the cat are pretty unsettling.
I enjoyed Hollywood Babble On for a few months, but it eventually got to the point where the first half of each show consisted of "shout outs" and increasingly tiresome anal jokes.
Agreed. I don't think I laughed a whole lot, but it was definitely not boring. However, the guest-less bonus episode was a nice palate cleanser.
In what way is Bill right-wing? Whenever I've heard him talk politics, he's been fairly left of center.
This week was the first time I've ever bailed on a NNF episode. I dont know. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood, but the endless musical talk bored me silly. The past few seasons of NNF have been a bit patchy for me though. I know they've been making a point to get new guests on, but I kind of miss the old reliable…
@avclub-ea098057cb0d1379deaf8c1cf4a1fe3b:disqus Just out of curiosity, why do you continue to expose yourself to something that you just clearly don't like? There are tons of podcasts that I can't stand. I just don't listen to them. I don't feel some need to "win" with my opinion.
I donated Tuesday. It was quite a thrill getting to hear Tom say, "Thank you, Dan." Also, according to the donation map, I'm one of TWO people in Trussville, AL who donated. I'm dying to know who the hell that other person is.
Wasn't he also on Comedy Bang Bang fairly recently? I guess he's getting a little up-tick in popularity right now, which is a good thing. I just heard that Rockpile LP for the first time a few weeks ago, and I can't believe I'd gone so long without hearing it. Fun stuff.
Yeah really. Gary the Squirrel was on fire.
Mohr is one of those guys who I can't tell if he's funny or incredibly annoying. He used to call into the Ron & Fez show every once in a while, and he did some great impersonations. Most people don't even DO a Chris Penn, let alone a fantastic one.
Not really a huge surprise. I'd never really thought about it before, but when Marc said Todd had a big announcement, I immediately thought, "Oh, he must be coming out."
It doesn't help that the lead singer emits a particularly douchey vibe. I saw these guys open for A Place to Bury Strangers in Atlanta a couple of years ago, and he punched an audience member in the face. That was about the only exciting thing that happened during the show.
