An extra galactic invasion resulting in the conquest and terraforming of Coruscant would go a long way to explaining why Hosnian Prime was the seat of the New Republic in TFA.

In my head cannon, humans evolved on Corusant and a group of explorers traveled to the Milky Way and settled on what would become Earth.

People had this view of the prequels too, before the Clone Wars cartoon retroactively made the movies better by adding context that the movies zipped past.

Honestly, just use flashbacks to fill in any gaps as needed.
