Well, the average age of cars on the road is 11.9 (call it 12) years, which means over half of the cars on the road were made over a decade ago. Any changes made by the NTSA in the last 10 years wouldn’t be reflected in the majority of cars currently on the road.

If there’s one thing I always look for in a $40,000+ vehicle, it’s one that’s been fast tracked by a manufacturer with a less than stellar reliability and quality record.

141,000 in the fleet, 400 up in flames. That’s a smidge over 0.28% of the fleet has caught fire which is only slightly higher than the number that some website I found says Fieros caught fire (0.25%).

I DD my 2002 TJ but definitely avoid highways. I’ll go out of my way and plan ahead to have enough time to take back roads.

Any car with an inline 4 was given the engine as an afterthought. It’s the New Balance sneaker of engine designs.

Also, the people aren’t buying the models they listed commonly. If you want a fun American car, you can find one – if you want a fun Japanese car, you can find one. The real metric is getting an A-to-B appliance vehicle that is ALSO fun.

This is why I don’t understand Carvana. Especially with used cars, who the hell is buying new or used cars sight-unseen? I get having to order a configuration, we did that with our Outback, but we still went to the dealer, drove a couple models, and weighed the pros and cons. If we hadn’t we probably would have ended…
