Obama backed a war by Saudi against Yemen and Trump has just had a soldier killed in Yemen (and an eight year old girl who by the way was a US citizen, whose father and brother were murdered by Obama too.) If Trump actually changes US policy in any significant degree I'll adjust my views accordingly.

Cool ain't worth two shits in a sewer. Cool is how you pick someone for sex. Obama was a bad president and it would be kinder to forget about him. Not being able to run against his economic record (even if Clinton wanted to) is one reason Trump won the college. And blaming Clinton for his foreign policy record helped

I think Trump has no problem admitting the US has lots of killers, not least the professionals in the world's largest military (measured by resources,) because Trump rather admires killers as the ultimate winners. They have agency. What I am puzzled about is how AVClub thinks this is a bad thing, given its aesthetic

Strictly speaking, Devon sacrificed an apartment in a hellhole of a bloc to go somewhere better, not to save the Bowmans. Dying for the Bowmans was never an issue for her.

Sometimes, the drama is about the audience's choice of what to think, possibly about the character's actions. Or possibly about what the feelings inspired might mean.

A little confused on the superhero count for Berlanti. There's Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, all currently running. There's the cartoons Black Lightning and I think Constantine. And there are the non-spandex No Ordinary Family and Tomorrow People.

Because magic is cooler than science.

Yes, well, this finally came to a theater within thirty miles, so now I've finally seen it. My main thought coming out of the theater was, a Hollywood movie where sacrificing love to your career still leads to a happy ending is pretty much guaranteed an Oscar. And yes, it's a happy ending. Which is why I can't see

The twist that it was the Bad Place was so welcome because those paying attention already knew on one level it was the Bad Place. The twist was more of an explanation that relieved cognitive dissonance.

Absolutely true about the unreliability of the information on the point scoring system. But if there's more to it, it's being withheld for more than six hours/six months. My attention span isn't that long.

The twist doesn't address the problem that the point system is good for laughs, but doesn't really make any sense. The show by the way explicitly rejects consequentialism, implicitly redefining ethical as sacrificial altruism, where doing things with good consequences doesn't count when the motive has any

The government is sovereign, and immune to many kinds of prosecution, especially private prosecutions in civil torts and the President must partake in that in his function as the executive. Further, the Constitution prescribes a remedy for criminal behavior by the President, which is not by civil trial. Your red

Let me rephrase then: Since when do TV shows concern themselves with anything but murder? When there's blowjobs involved, apparently. Made for Cinemax!

So is barratry. So is tax evasion. So is…well, it's endless. Pretending this is some big crime is purest Trumpery.

No, the legal crux was whether permitting a lawsuit with few or no legal merits to go forward, with the aim of allowing discovery into the personal life of a sitting president in hopes of partisan political gain, wasn't effectively a denial of sovereign immunity, hence properly illegal. There's a reason why a proper

American Crime Story should be about an actual crime, just for truth in labeling.

Elementary being on the way out, the producers are letting the politics show because, goshdarnit, it's just so much *fun* It's why I quit watching. Thank goodness I checked the review before I broke down and watched last night's episode. (I do miss a decent mystery program airing right now.)

Kings is amazing, especially if you've actually read First and Second Samuel. In addition to Ian McShane, who is nearly as good as his fanboy cred, there are excellent performances from Susanna Thompson, Sebastian Stan, Dylan Baker, Eamonn Walker and a couple of creepy turns from Brian Cox and Macaulay Culkin. Yes, the show distinctly hinted she didn't soil her lips.
